One of my favorite pastimes as a child was running around the trees, playing in the leaves and laying on the ground staring up at the sky through the leaves trying to find shapes and faces in their light and shadow. I spent the majority of my childhood playing in the woods of Pennysettlement. A tree tunneled road nestled in the woods at the edge of the Adirondack State park in northern NY.
Now I look forward to the long walks through Clinton with my daughter gathering leaves on the sidewalks, trails, and glens of Clinton.
The organic shape of my work has evolved and developed over the last three years. The emphasis being on three curves coming together in a smooth and elegant ellipse.
Clay has given me a way to memorialize the beauty and uniqueness of nature with leaves.
